“Following two family members pass away within the space of 2 months I asked Louise to come and spend some time with Maxwell, my eight year old to see how he was holding up.

Sometimes it’s hard to know what's going on inside their little minds.

Louise came tonight and spent some time with Maxwell. He felt totally at ease with Louise and really enjoyed his session with her, he even said is she going to come again I like her.

After this 1 session Louise was totally honest and said he's managing totally fine and she doesn't feel she needs to see him again.

We feel totally reassured that our little boy is managing/coping with our recent loss and know Louise is there should he need to talk to her in the future.

Thanks again Louise”

“I would just like to say

Thank you for the support you gave to me it’s helped me so much to deal with the traumatic birth I went through with my son and deal with the acceptance of my sons’ diagnosis. Louise helped me with techniques to learn to always look for a positive even on the days you may be feeling the worst.

Louise also supported me through my twin pregnancy, she helped me to accept that my twin pregnancy would be different and helped me to be in control instead of my fears and anxieties.

Thank you for all the support you provided to me I feel this has helped me to understand my feelings more and how to deal with them,  and I no longer feel sad when I look back on my past experiences as I feel these have made me who I am today xxx Thank you Louise”

“Louise worked with my son, Daniel for a period of 7 weeks, 4 of these on a 1-2-1 basis with Daniel and then followed by 3 sessions with myself and Daniel. Daniel initially needed support to express his emotions in the home and school environment, Louise quickly built up a rapport with Daniel and Daniel felt extremely comfortable opening up to her from the outset. Daniel came home after his first session informing me that a lovely lady had come into school to play games, talk and listen to him and they were making a book together. Daniel looked forward to each session with Louise and excitedly told me about their sessions and how nicely she talked to him and what fun things they got up to.

I met with Louise and instantly felt very comfortable around her, able to talk openly without being judged and Louise explained in a very reassuring manner how Daniel was feeling, how the sessions were going and what observations she had seen and made possible recommendations. Louise has a real talent for understanding children, nurturing them and allowing them to express themselves freely. Louise supported myself in making decisions for my son, clearly articulated where the issues were but in a sensitive manner and further supported me with meetings held by the school and really emphasised Daniels feelings so that they could make necessary changes, positively challenging views and giving Daniel a voice, this helped me enormously and gave me the courage to follow up her recommendations.

Louise is extremely passionate about what she does, you can see it in her face, she built a quick connection with both my son and I in a short period of time. Daniel and I have both benefited a great deal from Louise’s help, support and guidance over the last few months and as a consequence, we now have a happy home where everyone feels appreciated and listened too. I can’t thank her enough and would strongly recommend her services to families who need a little extra support.”

Case Study

When I had my first session from Louise, I was around 20 weeks pregnant and feeling very lost emotionally. I have previously suffered from severe anorexia 2 years prior to becoming pregnant, and so the thought of carrying a baby and putting on weight was impossible to me. However, Louise changed my whole mind set and ultimately, changed my life and the life of my baby's.

Firstly, we started looking at a "timeline" of my past, focusing on happy memories when I was a toddler through to growing up. Piece by piece, Louise helped me to uncover where and why my eating disorder began- something which no other counsellor has ever done with me. Louise then helped me to view my eating disorder in a different way, rather than seeing it as my enemy, she helped me to be able to see it as my friend- some inner part of me that was protecting me and doing what I needed it to do at that time. This helped me with my bitterness and helped me move on in a positive way towards myself, also tackling the feeling of loneliness that anorexia had left behind. Louise did some interesting meditation techniques with me which included a night time routine which was the first thing in years to help me get to sleep.

I have also adapted a positive way of looking at other people’s behaviours, which helps me with challenges in normal everyday life. Such as, "that person hasn't meant to upset me, they are simply doing what they feel is best for them" - this helps me so much to feel more positive in general and I feel able to socialise with others more now. Louise has helped me see anorexia as being a problem in the past, rather than present. She helped me talk about it to others in past tense which also help me move on from it. Throughout my pregnancy and becoming a mother, I honestly don't know how I would have coped without the support of Louise. She has been such a help not only to me but to my family also, as I can share with them the advice and techniques Louise offers. I feel this support is life changing and essentially life saving for expectant and new mothers. If this service was not available so many people would suffer and therefore struggle even more with the journey of having a baby.

The relationship I have with my baby girl is so special and that's because Louise helped me to view my birth as "letting go" of the anorexia, cutting the umbilical cord was setting myself free of the eating disorder, and in replacement was my baby girl. Her name is Hope because Louise has helped to give me Hope that there is a way to fully positive mental health and a happy life. This support is so important and I feel incredibly lucky to have found it.
